Paolo Sorrentino launches «The Young Pope»
Italian director Paolo Sorrentino is set to launch a new TV series with the British star Jude Law
Paolo Sorrentino is about to launch "The Young Pope”, a new television series, based on the life of fictional Pope Pius XIII.
The main actors are Silvio Orlando and the British star Jude Law, who plays the Pope.
"The Young Pope is not a provocative series, I say this because I know how it ends: you need to see all ten episodes" - said the Oscar-winning director during the premiere.
"It is not easy to fence in few words a film so long and complex. I would say that it portrays a complex and limited territory which is the obvious expression of isolation and loneliness”.
The series - which will also be distributed in the United Kingdom, France and the United States - costed 40 million euros, a sum that SKY’s executive vice-president Andrea Scrosati described as "in line with the figures of the big American series" .
During the eight months of shooting, Jude Law also had the opportunity to enjoy the beauties of Rome.
"Going back to Rome, I realized how important was to live here for me. Thank you all for making me feel happy and at home. It's nice to be back and it's nice to feel the effect that this series and this character have had on me”.

The Eagles of Death Metal return to Paris after the massacres
A concert different from all others, a memory of all the victims of violence and a symbol of a Paris that won’t give in to terror.
